Why don't you do what you dream....?

The other day, I made Jam-Jam Muffins...(raspberry yogurt muffins filled with apricot preserves...)...should be renamed Yum Yum....but anyhow...

And when peeling the paper liner off of my muffin, I was taken back.
Way Back.
To a Childhood Movie.

Is it just me or does my muffin resemble Morla the Ancient One from the Neverending Story (la la la la la la la la la....)

my muffin

Morla

my muffin

again, Morla

Well, it obviously didn't bother me too much, for I chomped down two of my Mor..er, muffins :)

And just a side observation --- and at the risk of sounding very VH1 -- where are the child actors now??

The kid that played Bastian (cool first name btw), was Barret Oliver and only did like seven years of child acting and is now a photographer. But he was in Cocoon and D.A.R.Y.L. Can't find any updated "I'm now a 37yo adult" pics...

Atreyu -- (Noah Hathaway) apparently is a major energetic athlete (even opened a Muay Thai store) and since 2009 has opened up a tattoo shop. (I don't follow the line of thinking....)

The Empress --- (Tami Stronach) is the child of a Scottish archaeologist of Ancient Persia and an Israeli archaeologist. She was born in Iran and the Neverending Story was her debut. And it was also her last film, as her parents didn't want her to go down the path of other child actors. So, she turned to dance instead.

And okay, through my "research", I finally found what Bastian renamed the Empress....According to Wiki, Moonchild.
okay, what?! where did that come from?! I totally would not have got that from the video....

Here is what is said on Answers.com

Okay, some back story on this. In the movie, which isn't the best rendition of The Neverending Story, he mentions that if he were asked to give the Childlike Empress a new name, Bastian would give her her mother's name. However, in the movie, somewhere between the time he makes that statement, and actually calls out her name he changes his mind, because he calls out "Moon Child". Now, I very highly doubt that his mother's name was "Moon Child Bux".

Now, in the book, Bastian never makes the claim that he will give the Childlike Empress his mother's name. In fact it never comes up at all. When faced with the decision to let Fantastic (Fantasia in the movie), or name the Golden-Eyes Commander of Wishes (The Empress), he named her. And he names her Moon Child, which, by naming her, he showed his power of imagination, and the power to create worlds with it.

So, to answer the question, in the movie, he called out "Moon Child", but it was never his mother's name.

interesting...nonetheless, a definitely amazing children's movie.
I wanted my own Falkor...

Maybe I might ask for one for Christmas...

Coincidence....?

A little story.

Yesterday, an afternoon conversation while cleaning the dishes, between my husband and I.

Background: I (the wife, the caretaker of the house) has been out of house for about 2 months and husband (busy computer software employee) has been "in charge"...including cooking, cleaning etc.

Husband: So, I'm really proud of myself. When you were gone, I did cook some good meals.
Me: That's nice honey. Good to hear.
Husband: Oh and yeah, I used that spray stuff behind the sink and the other little cracks and holes so I didn't see one mouse during the whole time you were gone.
Me: Oh good. Can't stand the mice.

(yes, I did just reveal that we have a little mouse issue....occasionally. Rarely. Hardly ever. Really.)

Fast forward to this morning.....
Husband: Hon, can you come downstairs and tell me what you see.
I go downstairs to where my husband is in the kitchen, pointing to something on the counter.

Husband: Is that mouse poop?
Me: Yup. Most definitely. Looks like in a couple of places.
Husband: Grr.

We go to sit down at the table and I start giggling.
Husband: What?
Me: Oh nothing. I just realized that when I was gone, so were the mice. Only when I returned, did they come back. They must have known I was cooking again. And you weren't.

Let It Snow!!

So there I am, still in my pajamas, with the laptop, my son, his toys sitting in front of the warm fireplace.....yeah, kind of having a Thomas Kincaid moment...

I'm checking my email, my blog, my favorite blogs, facebook and I read one of my friend's posts of how she took her girls out in the snow and they had so much fun and isn't this weird for she isn't a snow girl at all...and then I thought to myself, I, too, need to take my son outside and let him experience the snow, regardless of the fact that I can loudly proclaim the pride in my Caribbean blood and my love of things all bright and warm!

So at lunch, I tell my husband what I am planning on doing and no kidding, right in front of my eyes, he became a 5 year old in a candy store! I heard this shocking loud "yeeeaaahhh, it's gonna be so much fun" like he had been holding it in or something and he began to inhale his food in order to make the moment come quicker. I think I blinked and he was in his coat, hat, gloves and boots. Funny, how he now found his winter gear today, but all the other days....

Anyhow, we did have fun and I think Eliel enjoyed it, if not a bit intrigued by this white stuff...I think one of the funniest moments was putting on his snowsuit! Well, we have a bunch of them given to us by family and friends but our son was on the "length line" twice and so only fit two of the five. (Actually, two of the four --- husband said one wasn't "cool enough" to wear.....that coming from a man who went out in plaid pajama pants and brown leather boots to the store the other day...) So we put Eliel into the one-piece snowsuit, for we can't find his other boot and he seems to get a rash from wearing the coat part and he.just.barely.fit! He was a little snug but we figured no snow would get in. And off we went!

Eliel could barely move so he didn't really get to play with the snow, but just look at my little blue penguin....

I think this is a happy-if-not-thawing-out face! :)
